dear neighbors

After months  (and  years) of hearing from neighbors about all the great things going on in our community, we realized what a great need  there is for a "public square" where we can talk to each other, see  each other going  about our daily lives, and learn about each other  as people.

Also, while we have been in increasingly frequent communication with each other (particularly through e-mail) around issues of crime and safety, it has become clear that our community would benefit from more sustained, in-depth,  communication around these (and other) quality of life  issues.

This WHO newsletter will be our "public square."  YOUR participation and ideas are the key to success.  We hope that you will send us your stories, poems, and illustrations. Do you have a favorite recipe or health tip? A favorite quote? Share them! Having a garage sale or a book club meeting? Let others know!

You can participate in this project either by joining the communications committee, proposing your own content, volunteering for one of our posted “needs” (on this page) or submitting a letter to the editor.

We're waiting to hear from you!

Sincerely,

Michelle Lewis & Beverly Roberts

newsletter needs

We have already identified a few basic “needs” to ensure that the newsletter performs a useful service for the neighborhood:

  • Help keep the community calendar up-to-date by sending in announcements of neighborhood events. Even better, contact Stephanie Bahr to find out about taking an even more active role in this VITAL community activity.
  • Write a few paragraphs telling us about your volunteer experiences, and give your organization a little free publicity while you're at it.
  • Recommend your favorite repair person, auto mechanic, plumber, or snow shovelling service to your neighbors.

in upcoming issues

Planned features include a Young Writer's Forum, a Parenting Forum, and Youth artwork . . .
